Sports Business Journal: Website
Homepage
The homepage channeled a familiar layout, mirroring global news giants like CNN or NYT. Top headlines, paired with relevant visuals, grabbed users' attention. Clicking on any story led them to the dedicated category page. Secondary content, like podcasts and SBJTV videos, found a prominent spot on the right rail for easy access. The streamlined top navigation offered a seamless way to switch between Daily and Weekly editions.
Article
Article pages offer flexibility, showcasing content with or without a hero image. Sharing buttons are readily available, and users can easily navigate back to category pages or explore new features like podcasts and SBJTV videos.
Typography
With an article-driven site, typography is king. I chose the serif/sans-serif combo. Kepler Display offered great readiability for headlines, even at small sizes.
SBJ TV
SBJTV is a new video product offered by SBJ. It features a YouTube-like experience including channels, categories, and topics.
SBJ TV: Channels
Taking a cue from popular online and TV experiences, SBJ introduced content channels for viewers. Each channel received unique branding, establishing a distinct identity within the platform.
Mobile screens
Analytics show that nearly half their audience consumes content on mobile devices (phones or tablets). To ensure a seamless experience, the website was optimized for a clean and favorable mobile experience.
